Why are we here? What is our life about?
Lets be honest… We have all asked the question at some point. Most of us probably more than once. But when it comes to the purpose of our lives, I think a lot of us may have the wrong idea.
I think most people get confused when it comes to life’s purpose because they try to look at it from the wrong perspective. It’s natural to want to think our lives are all about us. We all have dreams, hopes, desires.. It’s easy to see how our whole world can be consumed by chasing after what we want for our lives, instead of seeking after God’s plan for us.

We’ve all made plans for the future. I know I sure have, but when it boils down to it… no plan I come up with could ever compare to the plan I know God has for me.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares The Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
When it comes to the purpose of our lives, often times I think we get so busy making plans for ourselves that we forget a major part of the equation. We were not made for us, we were made for God. Therefore, our lives do not belong to us, but to Him.
"All things have been created through him and FOR him." (Colossians 1: 16) (See also Ephesians 1:11)
We were not created to live for our own selfish will. We were created by a God who loves us, who delights in us and has an incredible purpose for us. A God who gave us talents and dreams not to glorify ourselves, but to glorify Him!
"For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it." (Matthew 16: 25)
So what does this mean for the planners, like me? Over the past few months I have been praying intently for God to reveal His plan for my life. I want to make sure that everything I do, every decision I make comes from Him, not me.
It goes without saying that this method requires a LOT of patience. But God reveals all things in His timing, not because he likes watching us sweat it out, instead it’s about trust. In praying for guidance, I’m learning not only to be patient and listen for his voice, I’m also learning how to trust that he has everything, including my future, in his hands… and that’s enough for me right now.
