Even though thunderstorms may seem chaotic on the ground, they actually operate like very organized machines. Oblinski managed to capture a great portrait in the video above, of how these types of storms evolve and the different mechanisms that drive them.

Just because we can see where some of them are, doesn't mean they're any more likely to bite.

There's a really good reason you should move indoors when the weather turns sour. Remember, lightning doesn't have to strike the same place twice for you to get in trouble. One strike is enough to send you to the hospital, with potentially fatal consequences.
